After the Coupe version, Ferrari also revealed the drop top ‘Spider’ version of their new hybrid hypercar – SF90 Stradale. This 2021 Ferrari SF90 Spider is actually the first hybrid convertible in their history, and what a first it is. It features the same heavily electrified powertrain, like the Stradale, which means monstruous 1.000 HP and 900 Nm of torque. 780 of those horsepower are provided by the twin- turbo V8 engine, with aditional 220 HP provided by not one or two, but three electric motors, sending power to all four wheels.
All this power is transfered to the wheels via latest eight speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which enables SF90 Spider to hit 100 km/h in just 2,5 seconds, while 0-200 km/h dash takes 7 seconds flat. Good news is that despite its 100kg weight penalty due to necessary chassis reinforcements and the roof mechanism, the Spider version is also just as fast as the coupe Stradale version, topping out at 340 km/h.
Talking about the ‘Spider aspect’ of the car, the latest evolution of Ferrari’s retractable roof takes just 100 liters od space when folded, and is, thanks to aluminium construction, also 40kg lighter than convencional retractable hardtop. Ferrari says it takes just 14 seconds to full open or close it.
Interior remains mainly the same as with the Stradale, but Ferrari claims that they moved entire cockpit forwards, lowered the roof line by 20mm and made the A-pillars thinner. On the inside you get large 16 inch curved digital instrument cluster, where you can find all the information you could ever want, from the navigation, to your G-forces. There is also heads-up display, and Ferrari’s latest touch sensitive controls on the steering wheel and dashboard.
As with every new Ferrari, the new roofless SF90 Spider is offered with an extended 7 years maintenance programme, that basically covers the service of your vehicle for first 7 years od its life. This really shows Ferrari’s confidence in their products and improved reliability of their cars, which has in improved dramatically in recent years.
